Founded in 1998 by faculty from the University of Maryland School of Law and Maryland State Bar leaders, Civil Justice, Inc. is dedicated to expanding access to legal services for low and moderate-income Marylanders. The organization employs innovative solutions to address the challenges faced by those who cannot afford typical attorney fees or do not qualify for free legal services.

Through its Economic Justice Program, Civil Justice, Inc. has saved Maryland consumers over $1.3 million in avoided court judgments and facilitated nearly $3 million in affirmative recoveries. The organization also provides vital support to Marylanders facing foreclosure and connects individuals with affordable legal services through its Lawyer Referral Network.
