Our Story
Founded in 1983 by Harvard undergraduate Sabrina Peck, CityStep began with a performance at Graham and Parks Elementary School. This initiative introduced dance theater to children, creating a transformative experience for both the kids and the college students involved. Over the years, CityStep has expanded to multiple universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Yale, and Columbia, continuing its mission of connecting college students with city school children through creative arts mentorship.
Impact
CityStep profoundly changes the lives of both city kids and college students, fostering confidence, connection, and excitement about education. Participants report significant improvements in their social and emotional well-being, with college students often pursuing careers that reflect the values learned through CityStep.
