Our Story

In July 1997, Pastor Bruce Deel was called to Atlanta to assist with a church closure. Instead of dwindling, the congregation grew, revealing a community in desperate need of spiritual and basic life necessities. In 2003, City of Refuge was gifted a large warehouse in the heart of 30314, allowing it to serve the Westside community more effectively. From this hub, individuals sought not just food and shelter, but also recovery support, legal advocacy, and job training. Collaborating with other organizations, City of Refuge expanded its services to meet these needs, fostering growth and transformation.

Impact

Over 26 years, City of Refuge has placed 705 individuals in jobs, housed 354 people, and served over 317,922 meals, making a significant impact in the community.
