Our Story

The City of Refuge Foundation was born from a divine vision and the generous provision of 33 acres of land in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. In 2004, Englewood Baptist Church acquired this property with the mission to serve the overlooked and underserved populations in the community. Under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Michael Cloer, the foundation was established in 2019 to further this mission, creating a Christ-centered community that addresses spiritual, physical, educational, emotional, and rehabilitative needs.

Our Impact

Since its inception, the City of Refuge Foundation has made significant strides, including the renovation of the Johnson Home, which provides a welcoming space for missionaries on furlough. The inclusive park and Miracle League baseball field have been developed to ensure children with special abilities can participate in recreational activities, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
