About City Harvest

Founded in 1982, City Harvest is New York City’s first food rescue organization. With a mission to end hunger in New York City, City Harvest collects surplus food from restaurants, grocers, and farms, and delivers it to community food programs. Every year, City Harvest rescues over 100 million pounds of food, providing nourishment to more than 1.5 million New Yorkers facing food insecurity.

Our Impact

City Harvest operates a fleet of trucks that traverse the five boroughs of New York City, picking up food donations and distributing them to food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community organizations. This vital work not only helps to alleviate hunger but also reduces food waste, making a significant environmental impact. In addition to food rescue, City Harvest offers nutrition education and cooking classes to empower individuals and families to make healthier food choices.

Why Donate?

Your support is crucial in the fight against hunger. Donations, whether in cash or cryptocurrency, enable City Harvest to continue its operations, expand its reach, and innovate new programs to serve those in need. Every dollar donated helps to rescue and deliver four meals to New Yorkers facing food insecurity. By contributing, you are not just providing food; you are offering hope and dignity to those who need it most.
