Our Story

Founded in 1993 by community development leaders, City First Enterprises addresses the damage caused by discrimination, disinvestment, and redlining in communities of color in Washington, DC. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), CFE is dedicated to reinvigorating neighborhoods and providing equitable financial solutions.

Impact

With an investment of $38.2 million in economically distressed areas, CFE has positively impacted nearly 25,000 community members, creating or preserving 2,809 housing units. The organization has also supported Latino- and African-American-led businesses with 73 loans totaling $37.5 million.
