About City Blossoms

City Blossoms is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating the well-being of communities through creative programming in kid-driven gardens. Founded in 2008 by native Washingtonians Lola Bloom and Rebecca Lemos-Otero, City Blossoms addresses the lack of access to nature experienced by many children in Washington, DC. The organization has designed and developed over 100 projects, focusing on Black, Latino, and children of immigrant backgrounds, ages 2-19.

Impact

In 2023, over 5,879 children and youth accessed safe, creative green spaces across 30 partner sites in Washington, DC. City Blossoms is committed to making the District a greener and more equitable city.
