Our Story
The Church Council of Greater Seattle has a rich history rooted in the ecumenical movement, beginning with the Seattle Federation of Churches in 1919. Over the decades, it has evolved through various names, ultimately becoming the Church Council of Greater Seattle in 1976. This organization embraces a diverse array of Christian denominations, interfaith partners, and secular community organizations, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and collaboration. In September 2023, new bylaws were adopted to further open board membership, ensuring that all voices are heard in the pursuit of equity and justice.
