Our Story

The Christos Center for Spiritual Formation, founded in 1978 by Joann Nesser, emerged from a deep spiritual hunger for contemplative practices. After experiencing silent retreats led by Catholic nuns, Joann recognized the need for similar opportunities within her Lutheran community. This led to the establishment of retreats for women, confirming the demand for such a ministry. Over the years, the Christos Center has evolved into a vibrant community dedicated to spiritual direction training, retreats, and workshops, fostering deeper connections with God through contemplative spirituality.
