Our Story
At the heart of The Christopher Bremer Foundation lies a story of love, loss, and a commitment to preventing others from experiencing the same pain felt by those who knew Christopher Bremer. Christopher, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, left this world too soon, just two weeks after celebrating his 30th birthday on July 17, 2020. His infectious smile, unwavering determination, and deep devotion to family and friends defined him. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Chris was a vibrant young boy who grew into a hardworking entrepreneur, owning YESCO Sign & Lighting.
Chris's passing left a void that words can hardly fill. In his memory, The Christopher Bremer Foundation was established with a mission to "Be a link by advocating connectedness and fostering resources for mental health and the prevention of suicide." This foundation aims to connect those in need with the support and resources necessary for mental health and suicide prevention.
Impact of Our Work
Mental health affects each one of us, and the majority of Americans are directly impacted by suicide in some capacity. Suicide is a leading cause of death, ranking as the 10th leading cause in the U.S. and the 2nd leading cause for ages 10-34 in Nebraska. Alarmingly, 54% of Americans have been affected by suicide, and 10.3% have contemplated it. The financial toll is staggering, with an average cost of $1,157,386 per suicide death in Nebraska. However, suicide is preventable, and it does not discriminate based on race, finances, age, or culture.
Why Donate?
To make a change in our community, it will take each one of us. Every donation goes directly back into the community to provide essential mental health resources for those who need it most.
