Crossroad Health Center

Our Story

Crossroad Health Center was established in 1992, driven by a deep conviction that God cares for the poor. This belief was nurtured through years of Bible study with the Sycamore Street Fellowship in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Founders Chuck Schubert, MD, Julie Schubert, RN, Sally Stewart, MSW, and Janet Germann, CNP, committed to serving the community by embodying the philosophy of John Perkins, which emphasizes relocation, redistribution, and reconciliation.

Initially, the center began as a small clinic in a converted classroom at the Peaslee Neighborhood Center, run by volunteers with just one paid staff member. Today, Crossroad Health Center has expanded significantly, now employing over 80 staff members across five locations, providing care to nearly 13,000 children and adults annually. The mission remains the same: to touch one heart at a time with the healing power of Christ.

Crossroad Health Center is nationally recognized for its high-quality health care, having received the 2024 Gold Health Center Quality Leader award, placing it in the top 10 percent of health centers nationwide.
