Our Story
In 2000, a passionate group of local residents in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, recognized the urgent need to preserve a stunning 52-acre wetland and pine forest. This initiative led to the formation of the Chippewa County Land Conservancy in 2001, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to land conservation. The 52-acre parcel was officially designated as Joas Park Nature Preserve in 2011, honoring its original owner, Joseph W. Joas. Over the years, the Conservancy has expanded its reach, now owning seven properties and maintaining six conservation easements on private lands, successfully protecting nearly 1,400 acres across the county.
