The Chinese Economic Development Council (CEDC) was established in 1974 to assist low-income and often non-English speaking Asian residents of Boston’s Chinatown. As one of the early Title VII non-profit community development corporations, CEDC evolved from the Chinese Local Development Corporation, focusing on promoting economic and social enhancement for the Asian community of Greater Boston.
CEDC has significantly improved the quality of life in the Chinatown community through various programs, including job training, affordable housing development, and business support initiatives.
