Children’s Outing Association
EIN: 39-0806339 · Milwaukee, WI
Our Story
Founded in 1906 by a visionary group of Jewish women, COA Youth & Family Centers, originally known as the Children’s Outing Association, has been a beacon of hope for families in poverty. Inspired by Jane Addams’ Hull House in Chicago, these pioneers established Milwaukee’s first Settlement House, providing essential resources to help families achieve self-sufficiency and raise healthy, productive children. Over the past century, COA has evolved its services, now reaching thousands of children and families through integrated early childhood, youth, and community development programs at its two community centers in Riverwest and Goldin, as well as Camp Helen Brachman in central Wisconsin and partnerships with Milwaukee Public Schools.
Impact
Since its inception, COA Youth & Family Centers has positively impacted over 8,000 Milwaukee children and families annually. The camp has offered transformative experiences to hundreds of youth, fostering resilience and community strength through collaboration with local organizations, corporations, and foundations.
