The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota was founded in 2006 by a dedicated group of educators, business leaders, and community members who envisioned a vibrant space for families. After achieving 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, the museum found its permanent home in Mankato in 2015, providing a safe and inviting environment for children to explore and learn through hands-on, interactive exhibits that celebrate local heritage and culture.
Since opening its doors, the museum has welcomed over 650,000 guests, enriching the lives of children and families. The Access Program has successfully engaged over 1,800 children, breaking down barriers to participation and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn and grow.
