Our Story
Children’s Medical Fund of New York (CMFNY) was established in 1966 by a dedicated group of volunteers, parents, pediatricians, and community leaders who recognized the urgent need for a children’s hospital in the New York metropolitan area. After 17 years of tireless fundraising, Schneider Children’s Hospital opened its doors in 1983, now known as Steven & Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. Since then, CMFNY has raised over $90 million to support seriously ill children and their families, saving thousands of lives and enhancing the hospital experience for many more.
Impact
Over the years, CMFNY has funded the CMF Center for Pediatric Diagnostic Studies, established the Child Life Endowment, and purchased essential medical equipment. With an annual grant of $400,000 to the Child Life Program, CMFNY helps children cope with the challenges of hospitalization, ensuring they receive the emotional support they need during difficult times.
