Our Story

Children’s Literacy Initiative (CLI) began with the vision of librarian Linda Katz in Philadelphia, who recognized the urgent need for effective literacy instruction among children. CLI is dedicated to providing high-quality literacy resources and training to educators, particularly in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Over the years, CLI has expanded its reach, supporting over 30,000 teachers and impacting hundreds of thousands of children across multiple states.

Impact

CLI has transformed literacy outcomes for over 60,000 children from Pre-K to 8th grade, showcasing significant improvements in reading proficiency and teacher effectiveness through comprehensive training and support programs.
