Our Story
In the early 1980s, Dr. Philip Pizzo envisioned a supportive residence for families of children undergoing treatment at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). With the generous donation of land from NIH and contributions from Merck & Co. and congressional spouses, The Children's Inn opened its doors in 1990. Since then, it has adapted to increased demand, expanding its facilities to provide free lodging and support for families from around the world.
Impact
In FY24, The Children's Inn provided free lodging for 19,129 nights, served 950 families, and offered 803 recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities for children and their caregivers, representing 87 different medical conditions.
