About the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia
Since 1896, the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia has been dedicated to providing essential services to the state’s most vulnerable children and families. Founded by Reverend D.W. Comstock and local ministers, this organization has evolved to offer a comprehensive range of services, including child welfare, behavioral health, social casework, and advocacy. With 13 primary locations and 9 emergency child shelters, the Society serves over 16,000 children and families each year.

In the 2023 - 2024 fiscal year, the Society made a significant impact by serving 18,661 children, facilitating 102 adoptions, providing foster care for 524 children, and offering emergency shelter care for 451 children across West Virginia.
