Our Story

The Children’s Cabinet was founded in December 1985 by Reno businessman Michael Dermody and a dedicated group of child service leaders. This organization was established to create a high-level 'Cabinet' of public officials and business leaders focused on addressing the needs of children in the community. Serving over 15,000 families annually across various locations in Nevada, the Children’s Cabinet is committed to keeping children safe and families together.

Each year, the Children’s Cabinet provides vital services including basic needs assistance, child care resources, education, work experience programs, crisis intervention, and family counseling. This non-profit agency is dedicated to helping families navigate challenges without any charge.
