Our Story

Children's Advocacy Programs of the Blue Ridge is dedicated to promoting the well-being of children through treatment, advocacy, prevention, and education. Located in Virginia, CAPS provides a child-friendly atmosphere for a multidisciplinary response to child abuse and neglect. With a focus on immediate follow-up on abuse reports, CAPS ensures better coordination of medical and mental health referrals, fewer interviews for child victims, and a consistent continuum of support services for victims and their non-offending family members.

Impact

In fiscal year 2022, there were 52,894 reports of child abuse or neglect in Virginia. Nationally, one in ten children are victims of sexual abuse or assault before they turn 18. For over 30 years, CAPS has been providing vital CASA services to Franklin County, making a significant difference in the lives of children.
