The Children’s Museum of Central Oregon (CMCO) was founded in 2015 as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing enriching educational experiences for children. Initially operating as a 'museum without walls', CMCO hosted summer camps and pop-up events. In 2021, the board made a pivotal decision to focus on building a physical museum to address the lack of informal education opportunities in the region.
