Our Story
The journey of the Children of Armenia Fund began in 2003 with a simple request for a glass of water in the village of Karakert, Armenia. Founder Garo Armen was shocked to discover that clean water was a luxury for the villagers. This pivotal moment ignited a commitment to revitalizing rural Armenia, which has faced severe poverty since gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
In 2004, COAF launched its first major project in Karakert, renovating a local school. What started as a singular infrastructure improvement has evolved into a comprehensive initiative aimed at eradicating poverty. Through education, healthcare, social services, and career training, COAF has positively impacted 82 communities across Armenia and Artsakh.
