Founded in 1992, Children and Family Urban Ministries (CFUM) has deep roots in the Riverbend Community of Des Moines, dating back to the 1960s with initiatives like The Breakfast Club and The Supper Club. These programs, originally started by the Black Panther Party and local congregations, continue to serve the community today, providing essential meals and support to those in need.

Recognizing the need for educational enrichment, CFUM expanded its offerings to include The Haven After-School Enrichment program and Awesome Summer Days, ensuring that children have access to quality care and learning opportunities during critical times. The organization embodies a movement for change, driven by the belief that every individual has inherent worth and potential.
