Our Story
Founded in 1977 by a dedicated group of physicians, nurses, and social workers, Child Enrichment was established to address the critical shortage of resources for abused children in Augusta, Georgia. The organization launched its first service, an emergency shelter, in 1978, providing immediate support for vulnerable children. Over the years, Child Enrichment expanded its offerings to help children overcome trauma and rebuild their lives. In 1986, the Augusta Child Advocacy Center was created to prevent the re-victimization of children during abuse investigations. A strategic merger in 1995 strengthened the organization’s ability to address the complex needs of the children served. In 2017, Child Enrichment opened an office in Thomson, extending its reach to several counties. The recent opening of a state-of-the-art facility in Augusta in 2023, made possible through community support, allows for timely access to critical services for even more children.
