Our Story

The Chief Joseph Foundation, established in 1991 on the Nez Perce reservation in Idaho, is dedicated to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Nez Perce people. Through the Appaloosa horse, the Foundation fosters community pride and healing.

Impact

In FY 2020, 85% of total operating expenses supported programs for children and youth across 10 countries, with an impressive 87% completion rate in empowerment programs.
