Our Story
Founded in 1981 by Iris Krieg and Joy Beaton, Chicago Women in Philanthropy (CWIP) has dedicated over 40 years to strengthening philanthropy that supports women and girls. Initially, the organization focused on producing impactful publications that highlighted the disparities in funding for programs aimed at women and girls compared to those for men and boys. This research sparked crucial conversations in the philanthropic community, leading to a shift in funding priorities. Today, CWIP continues to foster connections, mentorship, and community engagement, building a more equitable social sector.
