Founded in 1986 by Donald J. DePorter, Chicago Gateway Green is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on the greening and beautification of Chicago’s expressways, gateways, and neighborhoods. Through landscape enhancement, litter and graffiti removal, and the installation of public art, CGG believes that beauty and sustainability go hand-in-hand.

Making a Lasting Impact

Since its inception, Chicago Gateway Green has planted over 4,000 trees, 130,000 perennials, and 80,150 bushes, while removing 1.5 million pounds of litter. These efforts significantly enhance the quality of life for Chicago residents and improve the city’s aesthetics.
