About Chesterfield County-Colonial Heights Crime Solvers
Established in 1984 by Sgt. Jim Bourque, Chesterfield County-Colonial Heights Crime Solvers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting law enforcement in solving crimes. Following the successful model of the original Crime Stoppers program in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this initiative brings together concerned citizens and local business owners to form a Board of Directors that collaborates with law enforcement and media outlets.
Impactful Community Engagement
Crime Solvers has evolved into a vital tool for community safety, implementing innovative web-based and text message methods for anonymous tip submissions. Weekly "Crime of the Week" segments are broadcasted on local television, radio, and social media, ensuring that the community stays informed and engaged. Additionally, a scholastic program empowers students to promote Crime Solvers in local schools, providing them with community service opportunities and a chance to earn scholarships.
