Our Story
The Down Syndrome Association of Maryland (DSAmd) was founded in 1982 by dedicated parents who sought to create a supportive community for their children with Down syndrome. Over the years, DSAmd has evolved from an all-volunteer organization to a professional entity, hiring its first full-time employee in 2020 to enhance service continuity. In 2022, the organization officially changed its name to better reflect its mission and commitment to supporting nearly 800 families.
