The Cherokee PRCA Rodeo, the longest-running PRCA Rodeo in Iowa, has been a cherished tradition since the 1950s. Originally known as the Barnes PRCA Rodeo, it found its home in Cherokee in 1965. In late 2022, a dedicated rodeo committee established Cherokee Rodeo Inc. to ensure the continuation of this beloved event, focusing on promoting agriculture and providing educational opportunities for local youth.
Through community-driven initiatives, the Cherokee Rodeo board organized a successful school supply and book drive for flood victims in northwest Iowa, demonstrating resilience and support. Scholarships for students pursuing agricultural degrees further highlight their commitment to education and agriculture.
