The Chelan County Historical Society, established in 1955, operates the Cashmere Museum & Pioneer Village, a vibrant testament to the region's cultural heritage. This nonprofit organization began as a vision of local collector Willis Carey, who sought to preserve his extensive collection of Native American artifacts and historical relics. With the support of community leaders and citizens, the museum opened its doors in 1959, showcasing Carey's renowned collection and the beginnings of what would become the Pioneer Village.

A Journey Through Time

Over the years, the Pioneer Village has grown to include 20 original structures, including a restored Great Northern Railway caboose and a one-room schoolhouse. Officially opened in 1967, the village recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, continuing to engage and educate visitors from near and far. The museum now spans over 13,000 square feet, featuring thoughtfully curated exhibits of Native American objects, pioneer artifacts, geological specimens, and more.
