Our Story
Chatham Animal Rescue & Education (CARE) was founded in 1975 by a dedicated group of citizens in Siler City, North Carolina. Initially known as the Chatham Humane Society, the organization saw a revival in the mid-1980s thanks to the efforts of Valerie Broadway and passionate volunteers. Over the years, CARE has made significant strides in improving animal welfare in Chatham County, advocating for better shelter conditions and launching Lillie’s Fund, a targeted spay/neuter program.
Our Impact
CARE is committed to promoting the health and safety of all dogs and cats in Chatham County, NC. Through Lillie’s Fund, thousands of pets have received essential spay/neuter services, and numerous adoptions have been facilitated alongside community education initiatives.
