Our Story

At the Charles Oakley Foundation, the mission is clear: to ensure that every child has access to nutritious meals, regardless of their circumstances. Founded by NBA legend Charles Oakley and his wife Angela, the foundation is driven by Angela's personal experiences growing up in a single-parent household in Harvey, Illinois. She faced the harsh reality of food insecurity, often relying on the kindness of organizations dedicated to helping families in need. This deeply personal journey fuels the foundation's commitment to ensuring that no child faces hunger alone. Charles Oakley, known for his powerful presence on the court, brings that same passion to the kitchen. His love for cooking and feeding others is at the heart of the foundation’s efforts, as he travels across the country to visit shelters and provide hope to countless individuals experiencing homelessness.

Our Impact

In 2021, the Charles Oakley Foundation launched the 'Oak Out Hunger' initiative, aiming to feed 10,000 meals across America. This goal was accomplished in 2022, with Charles himself cooking and serving many of those meals in partnership with shelters in the most underserved communities. 'Oak Out Hunger' continues to provide thousands of meals and essential services to those in need.
