The Charitable Foundation of the Islands began in the 1990s when island leaders recognized the need for philanthropy on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Formally established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2011, CFI aims to inspire philanthropy, leadership, and collaboration for the vitality of the island community.
Since Hurricane Ian, CFI has distributed over $1.5 million in grants to Southwest Florida nonprofits, providing emergency assistance and supporting local recovery efforts.
