Our Story
Founded in 1968 by Mother Margarita Miranda Otero, Centro Mater Child Care Services (CMCCS) emerged from the urgent need for child care among newly exiled Cuban families in Miami. Recognizing the challenges faced by immigrant families, Centro Mater has expanded its reach from Little Havana to Hialeah, providing essential services to underserved neighborhoods. Today, Centro Mater serves children and families of all backgrounds, helping approximately 1,500 children annually, with 96% qualifying for free lunch based on household income.
