Our Story

Centro Mater Child Care Services was founded in 1968 by Mother Margarita Miranda Otero, who recognized the urgent need for child care among newly exiled Cuban families in Miami. Initially serving the streets of Little Havana, the organization has expanded its reach to Hialeah Gardens and Hialeah, providing essential services to underserved neighborhoods. Today, Centro Mater serves children and families of all nationalities, faiths, and races, impacting approximately 1,500 lives annually.

Impact

Centro Mater caters to children aged 6 weeks to 12 years, helping them thrive while supporting their parents in achieving financial independence. With 96% of families served living below the federal poverty line, the organization plays a crucial role in the community.
