Healthcare Access

Our Story

Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) began its journey in 2001, inspired by the first Volunteers in Medicine Clinic established in Hilton Head, South Carolina. A dedicated group of local citizens, led by Rev. Joe Faulkner, recognized the urgent healthcare needs in Centre County, PA. In February 2003, CVIM opened its doors to provide compassionate care for the medically uninsured. Over the years, the clinic has expanded its facilities, now located at 2026 Sandy Drive, offering 11,000 square feet of state-of-the-art clinic space to better serve the community.

Impact

In 2023, 14,177 individuals in Centre County lacked health insurance, often going without necessary medical care. CVIM stands as the only free clinic in the area, providing essential healthcare services to those in need.
