Our Story
Founded in 1990 by Beno Chappell, the Heart of VA Volleyball travel program aimed to provide girls in Central Virginia with opportunities to enhance their skills and gain exposure to college volleyball. After a period of transition, Kristen Hardie and Mark Rinckel revitalized the program in 2002, establishing Central Virginia Volleyball as a non-profit organization. This transformation allowed for a competitive tryout format, fostering talent and creating travel teams that compete at higher levels. Over the years, the organization has expanded its offerings to include recreational leagues, developmental programs, local camps, and even beach volleyball, significantly strengthening the volleyball community in the region.
