Our Story

Central Pennsylvania Conservancy began as a grassroots coalition of passionate citizens, sportsmen, and naturalists who united to save Stony Creek Valley. Initially named the Stony Creek Valley Coalition, this dedicated group successfully opposed the construction of a hydroelectric facility that threatened to flood the valley, leading to its designation as the first protected waterway under the Pennsylvania Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Today, CPC is a member-supported nonprofit focused on acquiring, preserving, and protecting local land and natural resources in South-Central Pennsylvania.

Impact

Over the past 40 years, CPC has protected and preserved more than 5,000 acres in the region, enhancing public recreation opportunities and connecting vital natural areas. The organization has transferred over 2,000 acres to public ownership, ensuring these lands remain accessible for future generations.
