Our Story

In continuous operation since 1943, the Central Missouri Humane Society is dedicated to the welfare of companion animals. Originally formed as a regional animal welfare organization, CMHS has evolved significantly, including a name change in 1968 and the construction of a new shelter in 1976.

Impact

Each year, CMHS cares for over 2,000 animals, providing thousands of free or low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to combat pet overpopulation. With the support of over 100 foster homes and approximately 300 volunteers, the organization expands its limited shelter capacity.

Why Donate?

Your donation to the Central Missouri Humane Society directly supports the care of homeless animals, veterinary services, and community programs aimed at reducing pet overpopulation. Operating costs exceed $25,000 per week, making private donations essential.
