Our Story

Established in 1982 by the University of Massachusetts Medical School, the Central Massachusetts Area Health Education Center (CMAHEC) is dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality in Central Massachusetts. As part of the MassAHEC Network, CMAHEC focuses on reducing health disparities by enhancing the skills and diversity of the healthcare workforce. This women-run nonprofit organization is committed to providing culturally and linguistically responsive healthcare services to underserved communities.

For over 20 years, the Center for Health Impact has been a national leader in Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce training, significantly impacting Grand- and Kinship families through specialized training programs.
