Our Story

The Central Islip Civic Council, established in 1966 and incorporated in 1980, began as a coalition of neighborhood civic associations addressing vital civic concerns such as traffic, zoning, and street lighting. Over the years, the Council has expanded its mission to include housing and community renewal, collaborating closely with the Town of Islip to promote Central Islip and market homes built and rehabilitated by the Town.

Impact on the Community

With over one billion dollars secured in grant funding, the Central Islip Civic Council has purchased and rehabilitated more than 19 homes for resale to lower-income buyers and constructed 10 new affordable homes for first-time buyers. The Council serves an average of 600 families each month through its food pantry and offers various community programs, including financial literacy counseling and youth initiatives.
