The Central District Management Association (CDMA) was established to revitalize Central Avenue in Albany, New York, a historic hub of trade and commerce. In response to the decline of family businesses due to suburban sprawl and the rise of shopping malls, the organization formed the Central Business Improvement District (BID) in 1998. This initiative led to the AveNew 2000 work plan, which has successfully stabilized the Avenue.
