Our Story

Founded in 1977 by Mary Baker and a dedicated group of citizens, Central California Family Crisis began as a response to the urgent needs of the homeless population in Porterville. Initially providing emergency shelter, food, and clothing, the organization quickly recognized that many individuals seeking help were victims of domestic violence. In the early 1980s, funds were raised to purchase a three-bedroom home, allowing the organization to shelter up to 80 victims annually. As the demand for services grew, so did the commitment to expand facilities and resources.
