Our Story

Founded in 1969, the Central Arizona Mountain Rescue Association (CAMRA) emerged from the combined expertise of three predecessors: the Climbing Kachinas, Phoenix Explorer Post #1, and the Arizona Mountaineering Club. As a full-service mountain rescue unit, CAMRA operates under the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, relying on a dedicated team of unpaid professionals.

Impact

CAMRA delivers advanced technical rescue and wilderness emergency medical services, saving lives in challenging environments across Arizona.
