Our Story

The Central American Resource Center, known as CARECEN, was founded in 1983 by Salvadoran refugees seeking legal status for Central Americans escaping civil war. Over the years, it has grown into the largest Central American organization in the U.S., providing vital immigration legal services, policy advocacy, and community organizing.
