Our Story

The Center for Working Families, founded in 1964 by Jesuit priest Fr. John Halligan, SJ, in Quito, Ecuador, is dedicated to supporting vulnerable families through comprehensive educational, spiritual, and health services. The organization empowers families to break the cycle of generational poverty by focusing on personal and familial values, education, and skills development. Over the years, C4WF has adapted its services to meet the evolving needs of the community, including innovative responses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Impact

Since its inception, the Center has transformed the lives of over 6,000 families, with 75% of graduates permanently overcoming poverty. The educational programs have led to successful high school graduations and increased opportunities for higher education, significantly impacting the community.
