Our Story
Founded in 2001 at Wisconsin Lutheran College, the Center for Urban Teaching was established by two education professors to address the urgent need for enhanced educational experiences in urban schools. In May 2013, CfUT became an independent organization, dedicated to expanding the pipeline of qualified urban educators.
Impact
With 81% of CfUT graduates serving over four years, the organization currently supports 721 active candidates in its teacher and leader pipeline. Notably, 9 of the 10 highest-scoring Milwaukee schools on the Wisconsin state report card are CfUT Partner Schools.
