Our Story

Founded in 1977 as a project of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, the Center for the Advocacy for the Rights & Interests of the Elderly (CARIE) emerged from a coalition dedicated to improving the quality of care for frail elders. By 1979, CARIE became a 501(c)(3) organization, establishing a helpline that continues to serve as a vital resource for elders, caregivers, and professionals seeking assistance with long-term care, elder abuse, and access to essential services.

Our Impact

CARIE empowers older adults to live with dignity and independence through advocacy, information, and assistance. By addressing individual needs, CARIE identifies systemic gaps in services, advocating for policies that enhance the lives of all older adults.
